About DAR

The National Society

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), was founded in 1890. DAR is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Through our work, we strive to honor the legacy of the women who came before us and to remain relevant in today’s society.

The Oregon State Society

The Oregon State Society (OSSDAR) was organized in 1914 and has nearly 1,700 members in 34 chapters across the state. To learn more about the Oregon State Society visit the OSSDAR website.

DAR Schools & Historic Places

The National Society, as well as the Oregon State Society, supports many schools and historic places across the nation. Read more about our DAR Schools and the many Historic Sites and Properties that demonstrate our dedication to historic preservation and education.

Here in Oregon, the Oregon State Society owns and operates two historic museums.  We encourage you to learn more and plan a visit to the Caples House Museum Complex and the Newell Pioneer Village
