Service Activities

Chapter members participate in many service activities throughout the year both individually and as an organization.

As a chapter, we collect donations year-round for veterans and their families, for local school children, and other community needs. We participate in veteran honor flight greetings, veteran stand downs, naturalization ceremonies, service projects, park clean-up work, historic preservation projects, Veterans Day parades, and Independence Day parades. Our chapter recognizes those in our community with Community Service Awards and we volunteer and support the historical museums owned and operated by Oregon State DAR: Caples House Museum Complex and Newell Pioneer Village.  Members also serve as chapter officers, chapter and state committee chairs serving DAR’s mission of patriotism, historic preservation, and education.

Individually our members serve their community through serving local organizations, such as Meals on Wheels, the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, SOLVE, donating blood, diversity programs, literacy programs, women and children in crisis programs. Members sew and knit for veteran mothers and infant children, assist the YWCA family with family support programs, offer pet therapy programs for seniors, help with church and library groups supporting immigrants working to become citizens, and volunteer in local food pantries and for environmental or conservation causes.

We are incredibly proud of our chapter and its members who continue to serve 128 years after our founding.
